Mark Oliver

Physiotherapist

Mark has New Zealand and Australian postgraduate qualifications as a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist, completed a master’s degree studying lumbar spine biomechanics, and was a lecturer on postgraduate musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy programmes at Curtin University. In 2010, he relocated from a busy multidisciplinary clinic in Perth to the Southwest region.

Mark is an internationally recognized clinical educator with 35 years of teaching experience and expertise in treating pelvis and orofacial disorders. He has presented over 350 clinical workshops, been a conference speaker, written or co-written five textbook chapters, and published in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Mark presents lectures to doctors, dentists, physiotherapists, chiropractors, osteopaths, and podiatrists and has trained medical practitioners for Sports Medicine Australia.

Mark is one of 50 clinicians accredited to teach Mobilisation with Movement (MWM). As developed by Brian Mulligan, MWM integrates manual therapy, functional exercise, and cognitive therapy elements. It is one of the most popular and proven treatments used internationally by physiotherapists.
Using MWM principles, Mark has developed an advanced but straightforward examination and treatment concept for pelvic girdle pain and dysfunction. This approach has been enthusiastically adopted by many clinicians worldwide. Mark is currently completing a textbook on this approach.

Mark works with dentists, dental specialists, and clinical psychologists to treat orofacial pain. He has developed MWM examination and treatment protocols for temporomandibular joint problems and teaches this approach in many countries.

As part of his commitment to becoming an expert clinician, he has attended more than 150 professional development courses.

In 2009, Mark received an Australian Physiotherapy Association (WA) award for “an outstanding contribution to physiotherapy education.”

Mark loves living in the Margaret River region and is committed to preserving wild places and things. He is a passionate wildlife and aviation photographer.
